Liverpool Antony Gormleys' Another Place

March 2009. Crosby Beach is located at the end of the container ports and you would probably not stop unless you knew about this place. You have to walk down a lakeside path down to the beach and once you rise over the hill and look down, you see an amazing site, ever changing with the height of the tide. Placed in the sand on 3m deep piles and from 50om intervals are 100 cast iron statutes, stretching out over 2.5kms and all facing out to the sea. Depending on their position, some are covered completely in barnacles and some part clothed in seaweed. This was a cold, but very bright and dry day, which I felt was the perfect time to see them.
