SGD Seminar, Splash

April 2010. The society of garden designers put together yet another fascinating day, under the title of 'Splash'. The first speaker was Wolfram Kircher, from Anhalt University in Germany. he spoke of the technicalities of swimming ponds and how countries across Europe are now establishing them as option for public pools. he discussed plant and water flow filtration methods. Also how Urea (urine) tablets and chipped animal hooves help to maintain the waters quality. William Pye was the next speaker and he showed us where his passion for water features came from, close to the Wey and Arun canal (see first years visit). So often the world 'Passion ' is used to sell a service or interest, but here was a man who was so obviously devoted to his interest. Most of all, manipulation of waters gravity and the ability to produce vortexes were seen to be his driving ambition.
