London Walk Waterloo to Russell Square

December 2008. We met at Waterloo station on a bright, but cold day and set off passed the I-Max towards the South bank and over Waterloo Bridge with fantastic views of the City skyline. I never knew that the RNLI have a lifeboat station under the bridge, with some very smart inflatables. Somerset House was very busy with the ice rink having another successful year. Then it was up the Aldwych and passed the LSE, which was having a graduation day so lots of happy students in gowns and even more proud parents. A real mix of old style architecture incorporating some very modern additions. After that it was round the corner to Covent Garden market and time to sit down and have lunch. Next we had a look at the newly pedestrianised Trafalgar Square. It works very well and is a great example of how busy streets can be improved. Not sure about the plinth though. Then it was through Soho and up Tottenham Court Road to the Building Centre and finally to Russell Square.
