August 2009. An invitation to stay at a friend’s villa was too good to miss for Kasia and me. A week hanging out at the house and making the odd excursion up into the mountains above, via spectacular roads such as the Col de Turini. We went to Maeght Foundation outside St Paul de Vence, specifically to see one of the world’s best collections of works by Alberto Giacometti. Another trip was through the Tanneron region via Route Napoleon, to Lake Cassien high above the Med.
