Project 4 Knights Park Quadrangle
January 2009. back to University, we were quickly given a new project. This time we were given the name of a well known landscape architect (out of a hat) and had to re-design our campus Quadrangle in their style. I was given Joseph Paxton, whom I had never heard of. He was an Englishman born in 1803 and worked on the grounds of Chatsworth house for the Duke of Devonshire, but most famously, designed the Glass House for the 1850 Great Exhibition in London. His first major public landscape project was Birkenhead Park in Liverpool, which was used as a template for Central park New York.
