November 2008. Our next project was to design a landscape for the paved area in front of the National Theatre on London's South Bank, the original site for the Festival of Britain in 1951. My idea was to install a waterfall from a high central wall of the theatre, which would flow down the building, fall out at the lowest step overhang level and then form channels amongst scented plant topped granite benches. In addition, a large staircase would lead down from the bridge and a pedestrian overhang would widen the paved surface area.
