November 2008. The site was originaly a large water processing plant owned by thames Water and following the sale of the land to Berkley Homes with a Section 106 requirement. The 42 hectare wetland area was turned into a bird santuary under the guidance of the Sir peter Scotts WWT (World Wildlife Fund, now the World Wide Fund for Nature).
